The National Multiple Sclerosis Association was established as a nonprofit organization and has remained so for the past several decades. Individuals who keep the organization running smoothly are passionate about what they do. Their goals are to increase awareness about MS, provide assistance where needed to people with MS and their caregivers, family members, and friends, and they also have an influence on government issues concerning MS. Established in 1970, the MSAA provides services in all 50 states. This nonprofit organization works hard to make the lives of people with MS more enjoyable through programs and services they offer. The MSAA also provides assistance to caregivers and loved ones of people with Multiple Sclerosis.

They have 5 categories their programs and services are divided into; Easing Daily Life, Breaking Down Barriers, Finding Answers, Branching Out, and Offering Lifelines. The various categories include a myriad of ways to provide comfort, increase awareness, obtain a diagnosis, interact with other people with MS, or overcome obstacles associated with the disease. Anyone can utilize the resources contained in these categories.

A collection of books and videos are available for loan once an application to join the lending library is filled out. Gathering information on Multiple Sclerosis has never been easier. Topics from the medical aspects of MS to dealing with disability issues can all be found in this library collection.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Association and the abundance of Multiple Sclerosis Association branches located around the world have changed the lives of many people, not only those battling Multiple Sclerosis, but also those who care about these individuals.
